Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor,

I am pleased to know about the inauguration of the IT finishing school by Raman International institute of information technology (RiiiT).
IT services industry is all about people and India's huge base of highly qualified, English- Speaking, analytically strong technical talent has always been a key competitive advantage. India has to produce sufficient high-quality people to sustain this competitive advantage. If we consider engineering discipline alone, India produces over 400,000 engineers every year, however, less than a third of them are employment-worthy. Non-uniform curriculum, varying quality of education and pedagogy, poor analytical skills and lack of research focus are some of the reasons for this anomaly.
Another important requirement of the IT industry is that people in this industry must understand, appreciate and adapt to different cultures as they work in multiple geographies. Soft skills are as critical as the technical competencies.
In this context, setting up of the IT Finishing school is important and highly relevant. I understand that this school will equip the young minds with appropriate technical and soft skills. I am sure that this initiative will succeed in improving the 'employment worthiness' of thousands of students graduating from various disciplines.
My best wishes on the occasion.
