Sri. Kiran Karnik,
Former President,
NASSCOM
India produces about four lakh engineers every year. Unfortunately, only 1 in 4 is employable in the IT sector, as others do not meet the requirements of this industry. This is also true of lakhs of non-engineering graduates coming out of our Universities every year. Hardly 20% of the non- engineering graduates are equipped with the required soft skills to be absorbed in the IT-BPO sector. If we are to capitalize on the opportunities for rapid growth in the IT sector, we must produce professionals with skill-sets that meet the needs of this industry.
I am, therefore, happy that Raman International Institute of Information Technology (RIIIT) is launching a Finishing School shortly in Mysore , which will help students to match the requirements of the IT industry.
I wish the school all the success.
